Troubleshooting

The reminder bar isn’t showing

Work through these in order:

  • Are you an admin? Reminders are only shown to admin accounts, because only admins can edit permissions.
  • Is the sticky bar enabled? Check Settings → Plugins → Update Permissions Reminder and confirm “Show sticky reminder bar” is on.
  • Are there any pending reminders? Open the Permission Reminders section. If it’s empty, there’s nothing to show — the bar only appears when changes are outstanding.
  • Was the change type being watched? If you turned off, say, “Installed plugins,” installing a plugin won’t create a reminder.

I made a change but no reminder appeared

Reminders are recorded only when a brand-new item is created — editing or renaming an existing section, volume, or group does not trigger one, because no new permissions are introduced. Also confirm the relevant change type is enabled under Watched changes.

A reminder won’t go away

Dismissing a reminder marks it as resolved in the database. If a dismissed reminder reappears, you likely created another new item of the same type — each new item is tracked separately. You can clear everything at once with Dismiss all.

The modal opens on every page

That happens by design when the sticky bar is disabled but the modal is enabled. Enable the sticky bar as well if you’d prefer the quieter, opt-in bar; or dismiss the outstanding reminders to stop the prompt.
